G-MoN: Wardriving Scanner and Netmonitor Tool
G-MoN is a free, LTE-ready utility and tool available on Android devices. Developed by C. Knuetter, the app is designed to be a powerful Wardriving scanner and GSM/CDMA/EVDO/UMTS/LTE netmonitor and drive test tool. The app scans and saves all WiFi networks in range with GPS coordinates into a file on the SD card. Users can create a KML file for Google Earth and view the encryption, channel, and signal strength. The app also shows all access points in range on a live map.
In addition to being a Wardriving scanner, G-MoN is also a 2G/3G netmonitor and field test drive tool for radio planning engineers. However, GPS must be enabled for correct positioning on the map. Users can log GSM or UMTS RX levels into a KML file or a CSV file, with five color groups for different levels that can be defined in the settings menu. The log file is saved in the G-MoN folder on the SD card or external memory. It's worth noting that 2G/3G logging does not work when the screen is off. Overall, G-MoN is a valuable tool for those who need to collect and map wifi access points or monitor network performance.
